I'm pretty sure I felt baby moving last week!
We're catching up a little on the festive season delay with my pregnancy diary entries, thank goodness! Some other good news is that I'm pretty sure I felt baby moving last week! I think the fact that the mini-one is on the plus side of 11cm long and weighs about 80g now has something to do with it.
I love this stage! Things start to become a lot more real and interactive. By the way, if you're pregnant for the first time, and you're about 16 weeks along, and you haven't felt the baby move yet, DON'T STRESS! Newbies (first-timers) usually only feel movement for the first time between 20 and 22 weeks, second-timers (etc.) generally feel it earlier.
We could check the gender on an ultrasound scan at this stage...
We could check the gender on an ultrasound scan at this stage, but with our policy of minimal scans, we'll be waiting for that all-important 20 week scan to have a peek.
It was my birthday this last week, and I got a loyalty-card voucher from a local seafood restaurant so hubby and I went for some sushi. (If alarms bells are going off in your head, feel free to check week 9 & 10 of my pregnancy diary for some ideas on eating sushi in pregnancy.) I'm not a favourite-ish kind of person (no favourite music, no favourite colour etc) but if I were to have a favourite food, sushi is officially it!
I've been reading about how walking is so very important in pregnancy, possibly better than most other forms of exercise, so I've been trying to get as much walking in as possible during the day by taking the toddler for walkies in the pram, and I can really feel some wobbly bits working. Yay! I'm usually quite fit, so I'm feeling really out of it having not danced for quite a while... I'm quite keen to get one of those pedometers actually; maybe I'll drop a hint with my gadget freak hubby.
I wore a maternity dress for the first time in this pregnancy...
This week has been really cool for a number of reasons actually. I wore a maternity dress for the first time in this pregnancy, and all of a sudden people could see I was pregnant as the dress shows off the bump quite nicely. I'm not usually a curvaceous person, as you saw from last week's pics, so I really love having my bump!
We're also in the throes of planning the toddler's second birthday, with help from Ouma and Nana, so that has been quite fun. We didn't make a big fuss for her first as I really felt she didn't really have a clue, and neither did her friends at that stage. They've all grown up a bit since, and this time it might actually be fun rather than painful!
Well, I was supposed to go for my monthly checkup with the midwife and/or the doctor this week, but just didn't get around to it. Maybe after the 25th...
I've always felt like I've had love enough for more than one. What concerns me is having energy enough to look after two!
With being pregnant the second time I've found that I think about different things to what I did the first time around. Other moms I meet often say they wondered how they would ever be able to love two kids as much as they love just one. I have thought about that, but I've always felt like I've had love enough for more than one. What concerns me is having energy enough to look after two! But then, like most aspects of having kids, you just have to make creative solutions, and if there aren't any, you survive anyway!
So that's that for this week. Look out for week 17 of my pregnancy diary in about a week's time...
